Terraform Basics: Core Components

Terraform is composed of four core components: Terraform binary, provider plugins, configuration files, and state data. These components work together to assist you in managing the lifecycle of your target environment with infrastructure as code.
In this video, we will dig into the details of each component and how they are related to each other. This is part of the Terraform Basics series, a set of video created to focus on one aspect of Terraform and explain it in detail. While not a replacement for a full course, if there's something in Terraform that doesn't quite click with you, hopefully Terraform Basics will fill in the gaps.

Ned has been a Microsoft MVP since 2017 and a HashiCorp Ambassador since 2020, and he holds a bunch of industry certifications that have no bearing on anything beyond his exceptional ability to take exams and pass them. When not in front of the camera, keyboard, and microphone, you can find Ned running the scenic trails of Pennsylvania or rocking out to live music in his hometown of Philadelphia. Ned has three guiding principles: Embrace discomfort, Fail often, and Be kind.
