I think another good reason would be the expectation as the eldest to take over her parents position. The tucked bun is similar to her mother's fashion, and when she "let's go" of those expectations her style changes to what she wanted. And with having been frozen multiple times she has no more holding her back

Its actually that the tight bun means that she is locked in tge castle because of her powers and wants to be set free and the braid means that she is starting to control and learn about her powers and when her hair is fully down it means that she os finally free

At first her hair is in pigtail braids, symbolizing her naïveté and a bit childish, then in Frozen 2 her hair is down and loose with a braid, more mature and free-spirited, and by the end when she becomes Queen, her hair is in a bun like Elsa’s, but instead symbolizes her newfound wisdom and leadership:)
