Street Song (Gassenhauer) [rehearsal] - Orff / Keetman

Here's an arrangement for trumpet ensemble I'm working on of Carl Orff's "Street Song" (Gassenhauer). It's from his Schulwerk, or "Music for Children" from 1952. This one particular movement (or, actually, an exercise for learning Dominant and Subdominant triads) is quite popular, having been used in quite a few movies, including Badlands, True Romance (adapted by Hans Zimmer), Ratcatcher, Monster, Finding Forrester and even the Simpsons!

Anyway, it's originally for percussion, but I wanted to do my own arrangement for trumpet ensemble. This is an informal run-through minus the last two pages which I haven't finished yet. I plan on recording it next spring and will likely have real percussion (timpani, castanets, snare drum, tambourine, etc.). The part you hear in this excerpt with the trumpets blasting chords, with the space in-between actually have percussion filling in the space.

Pardon the poor sound quality, I actually recorded it in my living room with the ceiling fan and A/C running. Just wanted to hear how it was coming along. I hope you like it. Dave

Technical details:
Me on five channels with my Miller/Bach Bb trumpet w/ Laskey 65-MC mouthpiece into Royer R122 mic directly into Tascam DP-008, no editing except for slopply punching in on take 2 LOL ;-) Reverb added, post, Adobe Audition.
