Are Old Cars Fun To Drive In WRC Generations ?

WRC Generations has some retro rally cars so I jump into the Audi Quattro WRC to see if the older stuff is fun to drive.

Audi quattro was certainly the most understeer car of the Group B pack because the engine is in front of the wheels. You must do the scandi flick to make it turn.
As weel the big turbo is causing a crazy amount of lag, this is an ON /OFF car ; In a nutshell, you must anticipate everything but this is what makes the car so fun to drive.

Not sure if you know GM but the new generation of are hybrid, they get a boost of hybrid power which has caused drivers some issues this season where coming out of a corner the hybrid boost kicks in and spins the tyres like you described when talking about the throttle mapping, they’re also heavy with less aero like you described the handling in your last video, so basically everything you’ve described so far makes sense for the current gen Rally 1 cars. Don’t know for sure though because I probably won’t buy it anyway 🤣

I would like to see you try this without easymode. With h-patern shifter and clutch. Mighr make it a little harder to review the grass at the same time but yeah…

This is a Group 4 Audi Quattro, the WRC on rally cars stand for World rally car, and this format was introduced in 1997.
Also the throttle lag you mentioned, is because these older rally cars don't have anti-lag systems to keep the turbos spinning.
Turbo cars from this era are famous for turbo lag, which causes a delay in power.
Also Michele Moutons co-driver was the Italian Fabrizia Ponz actually.

I'm portuguese and I can say that we do have some of the best rally stages in the world. Completely insane to watch IRL. That being said, there's nothing like 90's rally cars, I miss those times...

The Audi quattro was very front heavy, so it was famous for understeer

For anyone with questions on FFB it's probably not your wheel settings that are off. Go into wheel key binds and click on steering right and steering left. There is a saturation slider in there, bring that down to under 50 (mines at 30) and that might fix your issue. Make sure both your left and right are set to the same amount. I had to do that with WRC 10 and it seems to be the same thing here.

@2:40 Couldn't agree more. I wish we could have a rally sim that entirely focused on historic rally (60s-early 2000s). Obviously there migt be some issues to actually test, record and put these cars accurately into the game since they are so rare in the real world now. Modern cars are extremely effective and impressive from an engineering perspective, but the cars have lost their charm imo. They aren't fun to drive tbh, feels like driving a giant boat and the other side of is that they aren't recognizable from production cars anymore which was part of the charm before.

To answer your co-driver not speaking French.. have you tried changing the language options in Steam? Game Name -> rightclick -> Properties -> Language -> and change it to French

0:23 I actually know the VA who voices the English Female Co-Driver in this game and WRC 10, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard her voice be described as that.

Rally2 or wrc2, is imo what rally1 cars should be 290hp and not much aero. fabia the best.

Same "bug: in wrc 10,
There is no french female co driver, it goes to the female english.
But french male is there !
