Says Danny Elfman "I knew from the beginning that it wouldn’t be easy to label this album or put it in one category. It was meant to be a cacophony, because deep down it is what I am too. The big mess is me". The Los Angeles musician returns to rock after thirty-seven years. He debuted with Oingo Boingo in the early '80s and then wrote the soundtracks for Tim Burton’s films, Mission Impossible, Good Will Hunting, Spider Man, Promise Land, among others and themes for the television series Desperate Housewives and The Simpson. Won thirty-three awards from seventy-four nominations.

Elfman is an artist not an exhibitionist. He drags himself through every effort leaving his unmistakably genius dna on every surface. With him from the start to the present - few can even compare...maybe mike patton, Maynard, David Byrne...thank you, mr. Elfman. Youve enriched my life.

This album is fantastic in so many odd ways! Has a lot of Bowie/NIN/experimental vibes and I fucking love it! Elfman really knows how to put chaos to music. He already did the collab with Reznor on True. An original song with Elfman, Reznor, Bowie and Numan would be godlike and I could finally die happy!

This album sounds like pain. Emotional pain, mental anguish and existential fear. To live through so much and still be overwhelmed by apathy. It's a painfully human album that does what good art should: Make you feel uncomfortable.

2020 was a year like no other. Yet we have amazing music like Big Mess as a result. Thank goodness for this great artistic person being trapped in his own head....As Helen said before the live show...Fuck It....Words of wisdom in this crazy time.

Me in 2020: Man...this year is crap. If only I had a soundtrack to properly represent the chaotic shit going on.

Danny Elfman: my beer.

My friend Chris LaForge introduced me to Oingo Boingo. I'd already known the name Danny Elfman but he showed me that Jack Skelington was, in fact, this guy Elfman who did all the cool, progressive idea type films. I was just watching videos of Chris, who sadly died a few years ago, and i went down a road. Saw the promo stuff for these songs and this album but somehow i didn't check it out until now. Holy fuck. Nice

It's like another chapter to my old buddy

Chris LaForge was a genius on his own but he played guitar in 30footFALL from Houston, Tx

Great album. Sounds like Stravinsky, Numan, Belew and "Outside"-era DB brewed all together.

WOW, Danny needs to team up with Gary Numan, that would be an amazing colab.
