In this Physics video in Hindi for class 11 we explained Poisson's ratio and derived its formula. Poisson’s ratio for a material is the negative of the ratio of lateral strain to longitudinal strain of a body made of that material. When a body is deformed such that it experience a longitudinal strain, it experience a lateral strain also. In general, when a body is streched, it becomes thinner. But auxetics are different. Auxetics are structures or materials which become thicker, when stretched.

Sir mera ek doubt hai, ki agar ham kisi material ko pull karte hai to kya uski longitudinal dimension or laterally dimension me linearly increment or decrement hota hai, sir mujhe lagta hai ki jab ham kisi material ko pull ya push karenge to uski dono dimensions me linearly change nahi hota hai, kyonki jab ham kisi rubber ko pull karte hai to janha se use pakdte hai vanha to vah wide hoti hai or bich me se kam wide hoti hai, esa hi steel wire me dekhne ko milta hai, to fir poisson ratio ki value kaise sahi aa sakti hai, , , sir plz clarify this doubt, ,
