Bryson was more honest than other golfers here he actually said it was the money and time

I gotta respect Bryson for being clear and honest with his answer. Anyone of these talking heads interviewing the LIV golfers would sign up for $100+ million in a heartbeat.

Bryson's a data driven guy. He can win $4 million by beating 47 players over 3 rounds with LIV, or win $1.5 million beating 130 guys over 4 rounds with the PGA. Honorable or not he clearly sees where the value is...

Bryson is being as honest as he can and you have to respect him for it. He said that he is in it for the money and that he still wants to play PGA Tour events which is probably what every LIV golfer is thinking but wont say.

Bryson also has never really been liked on the PGA Tour. A lot of fans don't like him and many players don't care for him either. I don't know why people are shocked about his descion, it cleary makes the most sense for him.

Bryson is the biggest loss for the PGA Tour. When he is in the field people will go just to see him play. I like the guy because he is unique and himself. He is fun to watch.

The total purse for the LIV London tournament was $10 million more than the Masters. Higher purses combined with contracts LIV is giving players, makes for an easy “business decision”. If the PGA does not adapt they are going to have a hard time competing.

"Forty years ago, it was considered by some a risky move for the guys who play professional golf to break away from the group created for golf professionals." This was about the PGA Tour splitting from The PGA of America in 1969.
"The golf breakup occurred largely because of the influx of money that television had started to pump into the game. The top players (Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer among them) wanted to use the additional TV money to pump up the purses."

"The PGA of America wanted to put the money in the general fund. That's when the compromise was reached, with the golf professionals and the professional golfers going their separate ways."

Sounds a bit like today...

The PGA tour categorized itself as a non profit so it could avoid hundreds of millions in tax revenue. That decision is now haunting them since it also means they can't hand out guaranteed money contracts like other professional sports. The LIV tour is doing exactly that so it's not surprising top level golfers want guaranteed money. If someone loses their PGA tour card they're gone with very little support. I don't see how you can treat people as independent contractors and then complain when they go elsewhere.

The Saudi International is a golf tournament held at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia. The title sponsor of the tournament is PUBLIC INVESTMENT FUND, a Saudi government sovereign wealth fund. PGA players were granted permission, by Jay Monahan, to play in this tournament back in February. I wonder if Jay's bank account got a little bigger back around February when he granted PGA players permission to play in the Saudi International tournament.

The sponsor of the Saudi International tournament is the exact same people who sponsor LIV Golf, but somehow the Saudi International isn't "Saudi backed". Hypocrisy to the core.

It's called Freedom and Free Enterprise. Its ok for the PGA Tour to partner with Saudia Arabia but not anyone else? Give me a break.

LIV has 8 events this year, and more next year. They will attract more players, more young players. The young hot shots coming up will make a choice: get paid sooner or go through the Korn Ferry Tour and maybe get a Tour Card. It's up to them.

I totally understand these players decisions and I understand the ones that stay at the PGA as well. Listening to all the interviews it is quite clear that most of the players that join LIV are in to make a good buck in a relatively short time and then retire to follow other pursuits in life. The ones sticking with the PGA seem to be the ones who have no plans to retire yet and/or are not driven to follow other projects in life (yet at least) and they are fully focused on golf. This could be bad news for LIV since all the good players that joined now might be out in a few seasons and it remains to be seen if new talent follows. Otherwise it could be that people lose interest in LIV and thats where it ends...

Not that he’s obligated to, but he makes a defensible case.

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.

They are moving in the right direction? Do you mean by removing a reporter from the premises at the inaugural event?
