SBP sends fruit flies into Space

Sanford Burnham Prebys' Dr. Karen Ocorr is sending fruit flies to the International Space Station (ISS) via a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. The lab in a box will allow her to understand molecular changes and heart function in microgravity, which could help protect the hearts of astronauts and those on earth. The lift off from NASA's Kennedy Space Center is scheduled for June 1st 2017.
