I once adopted a Shiba, it was the first dog I had ever adopted, and definitely saved me through a very rough patch in my life. This sweet elderly lady had a litter of them, and had sold them all but wanted to keep this particular one because he was the "runt" of the litter and no one had wanted him. Unfortunately due to cancer she had to make frequent trips 3 hours away so she couldn't take care of a young pup. I adopted him from her and she wanted me to keep in contact to let her know how he was doing, but sadly she passed away a few months later.

Rocky was definitely standoffish to anyone but myself and close family members and friends, and very self-reliant except when it came to sleeping (always found a comfortable spot with me on the bed) and scritches. He also always gave this looks to people, like he was silently judging them. I loved it. Whilst The breed tends to have its own quirk, he was definitely more than his breed. He complemented my lifestyle and personality so well, thinking about adopting another. Of course, this would be a different dog with a completely different personality, but it just feels right.

When i found out that my ex wife was cheating on me. I was sobbing on the floor. And all i can hug was my Shiba who approached me. He’s been with through tough times. Most loyal dog

As a child my family’s dog was a shiba. His favorite activity was running into the traffic of the busy street we lived on the moment anyone even so much as thought about opening the front door.

The fact that he died of natural causes and not getting hit by a car is a miracle
