It's a tough pill to swallow for many designers but there are products out there that can find success without having great UX. Take Craigslist for example. That website still looks the same as it did after 25+ years and still rakes in 250+ million MAU. The CEO/founder of Craigslist really understood his users. He even said "I've learned that people want stuff that is simple and fast and gets the job done. People don't need fancy stuff."

Microsoft is used by enterprises often using MS stack for their tech infrastructure (azure cloud etc..). These enterprise solutions are often used by large businesses with a lot of employees as opposed to small startups and sme’s using Slack. That’s the main reason of such a DAU difference.

Nice tips! Just one thing I found difficult to understand that I think can be remedied. The way you frame the takeaways makes them sound lengthy, ambiguous and difficult to follow. The language isn't clear and I would love to see those takeaways direct and exemplified. It would make it a lot easier to follow! That's my takeaway, feel free to disregard I just wanted to help, you're doing great!

Honestly, the only reason anything Microsoft is used in such high numbers, is related to their unethical monopoly based on garbage and that companies force you to use it anyway. Choice is not a real factor.

And yet I still have issues with teams. It won't let me copy paste images out of Teams to any other app or even other messages in Teams. You can't right click forward images. Seems rather basic

Teams has been super good in calls while Slack has been good with its Chats and threads

Apple and Google replicated the same with Apple One and Google One 👌.

Although such bundling hurts businesses like Spotify, Netflix, and some fitness-focused apps on apple platforms. Coupled with their monopoly on payment methods (30% apple tax) and no alternative store on iOS. Imagine for a second if this were to be from Microsoft, the whole industry would have raised hell.
