Fun fact, although the samples within this track sound like Michael Jackson, they are in fact not his voice. They actually come from a sample library called Skip To My Loops by Norman Cook.
Though this song was still undoubtedly created by Michael Jackson's team who worked on the music for Sonic 3. Likely, Brad Buxer was the main composer.
Yeah, the music of Sonic 3 is an absolute insane rabbit hole.

If it weren't obvious already, Michael Jackson is in this song.

This is still the freshest beat on the whole game

I hate how Sonic 3 & Knuckles completely removes this song from the game. It's perhaps the best boss theme in the classic era in my opinion, and I think it needs more love.

Ah...great memories. I was completely obsessed with Sonic (and this track in particular) as a kid--so much so that I held a cassette recorder up to the tv and recorded this very track. Then, I choreographed a dance routine to this song that I wanted to use as my audition for the cheerleading squad in middle school. I ended up not auditioning...but I stand by my original instinct that this song is totally amazing.

Always confused me why this track had Knuckle's theme in it. Still cool as shit though.

How was the rumor that Michael worked on this game NOT confirmed by this!?

It always disappointed me that this song was never allowed to go on longer when it actually plays in the game.

I'll always remember being so surprised to learn that it's actually more than a few seconds long. One of my favorite tracks from the game.

Being only about 13, I'm not too nostalgic about these games.  That being said, that doesn't change how much of a fan I am of the games.  It may even be a good thing, because I can find old games like this for $2.50 or so at flee markets.  Not bad at all. :)The Sonic games on the Genesis are what made me go out and make the investment in SEGA hardware.  Up until playing the original games, Sonic had always seemed to me as "that guy who likes to run fast and kinda is like Mario".

I was wrong.  I started playing Sonic and now Super Mario is turning into a dust magnet more than something I want to play.  This was quite a while ago, but I still think about it.  Sonic, there's something about him that just makes him awesome.  He runs so fast, he's got attitude, and he controls a lot better than Mario.  Then, you have the physics.  The'yre freaking awesome.  I have NEVER played a game with better physics than those you will find in the classic Sonic games.  Mario can only jump so high, and run so fast.  Sonic can normally jump high, but he can jump higher if you manipulate the physics.  He can only run so fast, but press down and watch him rocket.

...And then there's Knuckles.  That ass who does everything in his power to hinder your progress.  He is awesome.  I just love the Sonic games, and I wish they made something like Sonic advance again instead of turning Sonic's arms blue and wrapping them in toilet paper.  *Glares at Sonic Boom*  I'm even one of the people who gets enjoyment out of Sonic 3D blast, believe it or not.

I also have Sonic to thank for my "fanboy" side for consoles.  The Genesis controller is probably one of the most comfortable ones I've ever held, but that may be just because I'm 5'10 (no, I'm not joking :P) and my hands are gigantic.  I hope to make investments in Add-ons for the Genesis and other Sega hardware.

I can also thank Sonic for introducing me to the Genesis games.  Games that I may not have played otherwise have become favorites, like Revenge of Shinobi and Golden Axe.  I would say Streets of Rage, but I downloaded that on the eShop before I bought a Genesis (and the game :P), so it doesn't count.  I find more enjoyment out of the older games than the new because not only do they have better level design, music, (and some may argue graphics/graphical style), but [the games], not particularly Sonic, they are mostly easy, my only struggle being in Sandopolis (F**** you never-ending sand slide), but they just feel more fun.  Beating a game was an accomplishment.  When I beat a new game, it's more like:  "Wait?  Does this mean it's the end of the tutorial now?"  It gets so annoying!  It's like they hold your hand through the whole game and never give you a chance to play.

Anyway, I'm probably going to start a rant soon so I should wrap this up. :)  Please give a thumbs-up if you agree!

I have the classic collection on a ds cartridge (but play on my 3ds) and was stunned by how good this song was! Had never played any classic Sonic before, and didn't expect the audio quality that was in a port of an even OLDER game! The first time it started playing, I was jamming out to it...and died soon after.
