The Avaya IP Telephone is designed for the everyday user. It is good for use in common locations such as; drop-in desks, stockrooms, offices and lobbies. The user of the Avaya can be employees, visitors or even customers. Sales staff and cubical workers who require a quality phone and reply on several forms of communication will fill the te-leph-ony needs of the everyday basic user.

---Physical Feature---
The Avaya 1603SW has an illuminated red light in the upper right-corner of your phone that indicates you have voicemail messages waiting, if you enable visual alert then the light will also flash for incoming calls. A two line phone display, presents calling or called party identification, user options, and other information relevant to using the phone. The three buttons underneath the display here, can be programmed by the system administrator as either call/line appearance buttons or feature buttons. We then have six fixed buttons here that include hold, conference, transfer, Avaya menu, redial and drop. The numeric dial pad here. Underneath the dial pad are your audio controls with a speaker, volume and mute button.

---Call Features---
The Avaya 1603SW operations allow users basic call features such as making calls, handling calls, transferring a call, muting a call, and placing a call on hold. You can use conference calls to speak with up to three people, additional conferencing options maybe available through Expanded Meet-Me Conferencing. The 1603SW also featured bridged call appearances and shared line appearances.

---Networking Features---
The Avaya 1603SW requires Avaya Aura Communication Manager 3.0 and greater, Avaya IP Office R5.0 with Maintenance Release 5 and Avaya IP Office R6.0 or greater. The 1603SW uses local or centralized electrical power, through a secondary Ethernet switch 10/100 or local power supply. This Avaya has a HTTP file server with SIP protocol support. The audio compression codecs used for this unit are standards-based codec support for G.711 and G.729 A/B.
