i went to this open techno music party last summer that was literally besides a soccer field, so we were sitting in the seats that are usually used by fans during matches. i went to grab my phone but it wasn’t in my purse nor in my pockets and i started to panic while running to all the places i’ve been that night to see if it was anywhere (mind you, it was probably 11 pm so it was DARK even tho there were some lights) my friends started calling my phone when somebody picked up. basically these two guys found my phone, recorded some videos on it saying “we tried to wait for you to realize you don’t have your phone on you, we promise we are not stealing, we found it on the seats. we are thinking of giving your phone to the bartenders so that it’s in a safer place and maybe you can find it” but then they thought that it was safer if they kept it because they didn’t have any intention of stealing it. the call went kind of like this:
friend: “[my name]?”
guy: “hey dude i suppose you’re looking for your friend’s phone?”
friend: “yeah, i guess you found it”
guy: “yeah we actually tried to look for the phone’s owner and we also recorded some videos to give y’all proof that we didn’t steal it, by the way we’re on the dance floor but we’re going to give the phone back only if the owner comes along so we are sure it’s hers”

my friend called my other friend that was with me to tell us that they found my phone and needed me to go get it and i SPRINTED lmao when i got there the guy asked me “this yours?” i nodded and then asked him if i could hug him LMFAO i was crying real bad BUT at least i have my phone lol

Happened to me once and I called my sister over to ask what I should do. She told me to put it in the lost and found, but my dad came and said to just leave it there for the guy to find 😅.

His reasoning was if the guy was stupid enough to lose it on the mountain, he’s stupid enough to come back for it.

i did this in may 2024! i was at a zoo and someone had left their phone near the zip lines in the park area. i used siri to call their mom and she answered and called the owners husband, she asked me if i could wait in the park and they’d be there soon. i waited and she turned up and was super grateful. ❤❤ i’ll always love small acts of kindness 😊
