Film first is correct I think, because a film of a book you've already read will almost always disappoint. When I read a book I have my own image of what places and people should look and sound like and the film version is rarely as good. And films usually have to cut out large chunks of a book for timing reasons. So reading a book after the film should just broaden your enjoyment.
