Показать описание
Phylum Chordata Classification- In this video we have explained the different parts of Phylum Chordata along with different types and classification of Phylum Chordata. Understand Phylum Chordate characteristics and classification in detail from this video.
What is Phylum Chordata?
Phylum Chordata is one among the many phyla in the Kingdom Animalia classification. It includes all the organisms that possess a hollow nerve cord and a notochord, a flexible rod between the nerve cord and a digestive tract. All vertebrates, including humans belong to this phylum.
Phylum Chordata Characteristics:
Phylum Chordates include Notochord, Dorsal nerve cord, Pharyngeal slits, and/or Postanal tail. Other main characteristics of Phylum Chordata include:
1.Bilaterally symmetrical and triploblastic body plan
2.Segmented body
3.All organisms under this phylum are coelomates
Phylum Chordata Classification:
Phylum Chordata can be classified into three types:
1.Urochordata or Tunicates
2.Cephalochordata or Lancelets
3.Vertebrata or Vertebrates
It is interesting to note that the subphylum Urochordata and Cephalochordata are collectively known as Protochordates, which are marine animals. Though they are invertebrates, they share many attributes of chordates.
