Hello! Eh Up! And how ya Diddlin?! In this weeks video, we’re exploring the amazing history of Robin Hoods Bay. The small village of Robin Hoods Bay in North Yorkshire, is one of the prettiest villages you will ever visit. In the 18th century, it was full of a few shady characters though, smuggling sort after goods, that were usually highly expensive due to import tax at the time, sneaking down narrow streets. And paths in the middle of the night, sneaking past the law! They even used this culvert, which in my opinion is old world, it is so, so old.
I hope you enjoy the video.
Cheers, Steve ❤️

Love smuggling stories. This is a great video. What a find that side tunnel with the floorboards above. Large enough to store crates and lift them up through the floorboards to the houses

Brilliant Steve! That's the very culvert I sent you a picture of January '23.
It's always been a bit treacherous in January when I've been but next time I visit I'm going up there.
Here's to us Culverteers!!

Shiver me timbers Steve, that Culvert was defo shivering your timbers ! There are 2 or 3 more almost identical villages along that coastal section with Becks running in to them but I dont recall any other culverts like that one. I wandered in there a time or two but wasnt on alert like you always are so I missed the side adit, wooden roof and the Rat Trap !

Ace video mate thanks. I can imagine you're busy most days researching places for videos to show us. Weird to see cables and drains going everywhere.

Hi Steve, wow mate what a video. The things you show us a great but you make them fantastic. I’m sure if you made a video showing me chewing gum on a paving slab I would be glued to it 😂😂😂😂😂. Sorry mate but that really was a top class video. 👏👏👏👏👏👌👍

A fascinating video Steve,
This really is a beautiful place. Those alleyways are like mazes, you would forget where you lived after one too many! The culvert is truly amazing. The size of those stones, all laid without the help of any machinery. There is tons and tons of it. I wonder how far it had to be transported? This was a really enjoyable explore...😃👍🏻

I wonder if it's any coincidence that the first building on the right hand side is a pub? Also wondering how long it has been a pub.
