Although the moon has remained largely unchanged during human history, our understanding of it and how it has evolved over time has evolved dramatically. Thanks to new measurements, we have new and unprecedented views of its surface, along with new insight into how it and other rocky planets in our solar system came to look the way they do. See some of the sights and learn more about the moon here!

Man, I never realized how large these craters are. Pretty eye opening.

Don't you just love it when they say, "You can clearly see....", when in fact, you can't see anything but a blur.

This video is the reason why I love taking photos & videos of the moon ❤

That big crater has three rings around it like it was hit three times in athe exact same spot, but I think it was done by one mpact when the surface was still molten . The rings were casued by waves in the melted surface of the moon and they hardeend in place. Levingmountains that eroded slightly over time from micro meteor immpacts. It's a beutiful sight! Simple an dcomplex at the same time.

Such a well made, high quality video. The images are wonderful and the recording of the speakers voice is so dry and crisp. Very nice, I really appreciated watching this!"

So fascinating. I remember studying the features of the moon and its impact craters as a teen.

It's amazing how that large rock ended up right in the center of Tychos central peak. I dont beleive it's the remains of the rock that made the crater., but how it came to be there is just a twist of fate.

Wow humans really went on there. It made me realized after watching that trails! I've always loved moon out of all the planets, but didn't expect each crater to be this massive! Impressive indeed.

I can sometimes see the moon better in photos if I take them during the day or around sunset before the sun is gone. It gets some lovely shades of colour at sunset too. The seas of serenity and tranquility look like two foot pads of a very big paw print with three other craters as toe pad prints. That'd be one monstrous sized alien though. I'm not sure what those three craters are yet. The only ones I knew about (for years) are serenity and tranquility. They became my favorites as I could always see them.

The Moon's Tycho crater may be considerably younger than stated here. From the 1950s through the 1990s, NASA aerodynamicist Dean Chapman and others advanced the lunar origin theory of tektites. Chapman used complex orbital computer models and extensive wind tunnel tests to support the theory that the so-called Australasian tektites originated from the Rosse ejecta ray of Tycho. Until the Rosse ray is sampled, a lunar origin for these tektites cannot be ruled out.
