So true, study success to see what others have done and try to replicate it in your life. Don't try and re-invent the wheel!

Agreed! I believe that the better you become in something, the more you becomes a passion actually. Even though you should do something you like at least.

"Knowledge is built on concentration." Indeed! We must be aware of the consequences of the advances we have today. Though everything is instant, we must not forget that we still must concentrate and focus to extract and give more value.

Here's my question and it shows why passion cannot be ignored in the equation. Cal Newport says be so good that they cannot ignore you and to master your craft. If there is no passion then where does the impetus and drive to continously put in the effort to master a certain craft come from? The problem is many people have misunderstood fleeting interest for passion. Passions for things that come and go are not actually passions but fleeting interests. Passion is much deeper it is what drives you to continously put in the effort to master a craft through all the ups and down and succcesses and failures. Passion and effort and mastery are all intertwined. Lacking any one of them makes the other two legs much weaker.

In an era where quality seems to be taking a backseat to quantity it is refreshing to hear good arguments to the contrary. Not that both sides don’t have good points the problems can escalate exponentially if we don’t keep checking for feedback in our rear view mirrors. Without the proper feedback even the most sophisticated guidance system can’t keep you on course for your target.
