DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

I've been wanting this kit since pre-release info started to stream out about this particular 'paper' tank. Definitely need to get my hands on this kit. Another masterpiece from Takom. (My opinion obviously-but I don't understand all the hate and automatic disregarding of the kit as a whole for minor, minor "problems" that they may have with one or two pieces or sub structure assembly methods. The two part barrel being my main hot button or what truly "grinds my gears" when people put down a company or kit for just this reason. After getting past beginner stages when I was younger I never had a problem with seams or even having to use filler the majority of the time with barrels or several other regular "seam" assemblies. In today's world of scale modeling with amazing plastic cements like Tamiya extra thin that literally changes the way you cement pieces together and thus the entire building process to a point. (For those that haven't used it-do. And what I mean is that you essentially dry fit parts and then apply the extra thin cement. Using capillary action the cement "flows" into any cracks, crevices, or even imperfections to a point, to create one of the best cement seals and easily one of the best ways to build. It's why basically every modeller uses extra thin since it came out. It really is that much better.) My main point is this-if done correctly there are absolutely no seams detectable on the finished barrel or assembly. Simply remove the part from the sprue and do not clean the part up-in other words do not sand, level, or try to clean up the extra material remaining on the part after cutting it from the sprue with high quality sprue cutters. After the two halves are cemented together with at least 1 "surface coat" of extra thin over the seams, better results if two light layers are used, and after completely drying AND curing, the extra thin will act as a filler to a certain extent. After happy with the cemented seam now clean up the subassembly with flexi-pad sanders or files or whatever your choice of sanding and polishing tools are. This will ensure an absolute even level and, if sanded and polished and cemented correctly, a seamless single barrel that has only lost less than a 1/16th of an inch in depth so it still keeps its scale, but has now become a single piece barrel because of the plastic cement and it's properties when applied to certain plastics. It essentially welds the assemblies together, and by sanding and cleaning after cementing with extra thin from Tamiya, it is a breeze to polish it down to the solid "weld" without losing any scale or realism or detail if done carefully with the correct files and tools. This is not a "rant" toward amateurs or "newbies." It is aimed at regular modelers that always seem to complain if their kits don't have absolutely every normally reserved for the after-market, parts in their stock kits. Sorry-rant over. And it wasn't aimed at you at all Evan-just several commenters.

When I play war thunder and I see a T29, my first instinct is to back up, hide and call for help lol. Looks like a nice kit.

Good review Evan. Ive enjoyed the takom kits I’ve done so far. The only big bear for me is some of the sprue gates. I understand why they do it that way, but they take a bit of getting your head around. Look forward to the build mate

Thanks for the review. Looks like a real beast of a kit.

I have been working on their M47, which is very similar. The detail is very good, but there is a lot more cleanup than what is usually expected on a modern kit. The molding and engineering is not up Tamiya or even Meng standards, but it is not bad. I would put Takom in the same league as Trumpeter. The 2 part barrel is a real letdown, and just the nature of the tank using a lot of cast components results in a lot of seams to clean up.

shame about barrels, looks good mould, like the flat sprue technique, should include both types in kits.camera really shows the the snowplough/semi super kit, im about to fit vision gizmo to side front plate and wondered if i could use the thicker armour plates? As it is a sort of 3 in 1 super kit.Or are sprues removed in reboxing, theres a lot there.Like the new weathering vids.more detailed than smothered. Will need to start airbrushing soon so yours and daves vids are perfect..soon.d
