Yes, I know, it's Mad not Made. :(

Cheshire Kitten (We're All Mad Here) By SJ Tucker

I grew up seeing things a little differently, appearing,
disappearing, hardly innocent, nor
tied down to the ground.
I learned to roll and tumble with the punches,
glory in my stripes and spots
walk by invisible and never make a sound

But heavy is the crown that's always hidden
tender is the heart you never see
hard and fast shines the grin that we flash, but there's a vulnerable stripe or two on me.
Maybe any place outside of Wonderland
is not for me, my friend.

If I leave my grin behind, remind me
that we're all mad here
and it's okay.
Sun up, sun down the shadows hide me down in
Wonderland, Wonderland, nobody knows the way,
but if you find it in your dreams, you can
find it at your dayjob
somewhere south of Hell
Take the path to left or right with
just your gut to guide you
the story is not for anyone else to
tell.
Go down the rabbit hole and out the other side
you can't go home in the middle of the
magic carpet ride
you gotta greet the sun before his
lovely daughter moon
you can't forsake the journey for the
safety of your room
until you learn your lesson well.

I have learned to see and hear
everybody loud and clear
but the truth comes out in riddles that are
safe enough to share
that's how it is in songs, you see,
and stripes always look good on me
whether or not I'm really there (smile hangs in the air)
But heavy is the burden of the wise ones
when no one understands a word they say
the Jabberwock never bothered anyone,
but nobody believes him to this day
and why should they?

If I leave my grin behind, remind me
we're all mad here
and it's ok.
Sun up, sun down the shadows find me out in
Wonderland, Wonderland, nobody knows the way
but if you find it in your dreams,
you can find it at your dayjob
somewhere south of Hell
Take the path to left or right with
just your gut to guide you
the story's not for anyone else to
tell.
You gotta go down the rabbit hole and
out the other side
you can't go home in the middle of the
magic carpet ride
you gotta greet the sun before his
lovely daughter moon
you can't forsake the journey for the
safety of your room
until you learn your lesson well.

Is it the stripes or the spots you see?
Was it hearts or diamonds, baby, led you here to me?
Darling, you know better than to trust a pack of cards!
What have we learned,
the world is never as mad as it could be.

If I leave my grin behind, remind me
we're all mad here
and it's ok!

"I seen a cat without a grin but never a grin without a cat." The quote as I remember it.

“To begin with, ” said the Cat, “a dog’s not mad. You grant that?”
“I suppose so, ” said Alice.
“Well, then, ” the Cat went on, “you see a dog growls when it’s angry, and wags it’s tail when it’s pleased. Now I growl when I’m pleased, and wag my tail when I’m angry. Therefore I’m mad.”
“I call it purring, not growling, ” said Alice.
“Call it what you like, ” said the Cat. "Madness non the less"

-What Cheshire Cat probably said once

"But if you can find it in you dreams, you can find it in your day job somewhere south of hell" is the most powerful line I've ever heard and I can't even explain why

Alice - "Which road should I take?"
Cheshire Cat - "Well would depend, on where you want to get to."
Alice - "Oh, it really doesn't matter. As long as I-"
Cheshire Cat - "Then… it really shouldn't matter… which way… you go."

Fantastic lyrics and song. The cheshire cat is a friend, a philosopher, an intuitive thinker but has a playful and realistic outlook on life. My daughter pointed out to me that she saw the cheshire cat in the crescent moon one day and that struck a chord with me (she's so smart and that makes me grin enormously). At the end of the day we are all indeed, slightly mad, and sometimes that is a good thing.

"Heavy is the burden of the wiseones when No one understands a word they say." That line speaks to me.

“I have learned to see and hear everybody loud and clear, but the truth comes out in riddles that are safe enough to share.”

That’s my favorite line, it feels extremely meaningful to me and very true.

This song reminds me of my childhood, particularly the lines "I grew up seeing things a little differently" and "I learned to roll and tumble with the punches" I was very awkward and shy as a kid but I was very creative and would draw things right out of my mind but later I found out that when I was creating and just being myself, some of my teachers thought I was hallucinating!

I've listened to this so many times and just realized what the hearts or diamonds means. This is so sad. Either love or money brought you together.

"Don't you see". the stranger said, grinning like a cheshire cat.

"Wonderland isn't a place..."

"It's the present."

THe cats words are like the wisdom of the laughing god. Some would call him mad. But what is madness but a definition, always changing, always shifting. All I know is that I know nothing, and I may be wrong sometimes, but only he who thinks he knows everything can be wrong a hundred percent of the time. Perhaps the wisest of them all was the prophet who never spoke, but just laughed and saw the joke. For you see - the universe has a wonderful sense of humor. People just gotta learn how to take a joke.

I feel like this song is a metaphor for life. You can’t leave in the middle of it, you have to greet the sun before the moon, the world could always be madder than it is, the story cannot be told by anyone else, etc. Basically, I love this song, and will use it as a metaphor for life.

If you listen at 3:47, after it says "and it's ok", the backing music whispers "I Promise",

I have watched this video so many times and only just heard it...

That "and why should they?" Is so satisfying I can't stop replaying it

Theory---- So Cheshire Cat is a cat that was originally a regular kitten in the real world that always was a bit off. He imagined things that weren't there, such as the mad hatter, Alice, etc. He wanted them so badly to be real so he could have friends. So he learned to just 'dissapear' when people were harsh to him. One day, he actually did dissapear. And he ran away. Then he couldn't turn back to be seeable. So he kept running. He blocked out everybody. He did not have a smile. He had a frown. So he found Neverland. Then he met his imaginary friends, except they were real. His frown turned into a smile. He was finally somewhere where he would be accepted for who he was. But, every once in a while, he turns invisible and runs back to reality. But a part of him, his smile or stripes, always stayed in wonderland. And when he visited Reality, he could not turn seeable, because his true home was wonderland.
Btw, this is just a story I made up to comfort myself, so yea lol.
