I doubt it’s possible. The battery depletes over time even if left unused. When the camera is off, it cannot know the status of the battery (besides it can be removed) as it’s off. It also cannot remember it from the last time it was on, because like I said the battery depletes or it can be removed/replaced. It’s a different story with the mode or other settings which cannot be changed when the camera is off, so there’s no problem remembering that from the last time it was on.

If I’m not wrong fuji cameras with the top little screen shows more info even when is off, that is definitely more useful

I have a sneaking suspicion that maybe it's because in case you want to save battery and turn the camera on quickly to take a shot or a video you know which mode its in?

I assume that can just be a software update right? Like that would take some engineer like an hour
