If you are a Toyota fan you will know the Corolla or Auris is one of the most trusted compacts ever. Reliable and affordable have always been associated with the brand. But as other manufacturers like Mazda, Hyundai and Honda amp up the compact game the old Corolla was turning into a snooze fest. If you are shopping for a cheap and reliable car check out this video for more details.

Toyota should be praised for continuing to offer a manual transmission with the Corolla.

Love how you go under the car and comment on actual build quality like stamped steel and welding... Can't think of any other reviewers that do that! Thumbs up!

I've just come across this channel. This is by far the best auto review channel I've ever seen (and I'm suscribed to a lot of them). Who else reviews the underbody of a car, really? Liked and subscribed! Keep up the good work.

Just bought one of these about a month ago with all the same options. Great review. The fake exhaust tips suck but that and the infotainment are really the only things I would change about this car. Not everyone needs a ton of horsepower, gas mileage and reliability are super important. It flat out looks better than a lot of the competition, the interior is very upscale for its class, and driving slow cars fast is more fun anyways because you get to keep your license. Also, I'm glad you reviewed one without the spoiler because it looks better that way!

You are the only person on YouTube that explains what a platform actually is, means and features, to make a car perform the way it does. You put it up onto a hoist and walk us through all of it. I've never seen anyone else on any other car channel do this before for almost any and every vehicle you review. Thank you 'Mr. Goose' for doing this. Now I know why I subbed to your channel! Although sometimes glib in your delivery, you're honest in your reviews. Thank you. Keep up the great work with your channel.

Love your back story. Explains how your channel got here. You need more viewers and perhaps a more consistent segment production like this one.

This was the most thorough, reasonable, and knowledgeable review I've seen of the new Corolla Hatchback. The observations regarding the CVT, with a demonstration of how quickly it shifts ratios using a closeup of the tach, were especially appreciated, along with the discussion of its "combined injection, " and the tour of the well-protected underside areas. 'Lots of very useful additional impressions, as well, and nice video production quality.

"Sleepy time is over"
This is what happens when Toyota makes a manual hatchback!
Its a great looking car. I would not get the auto (cvt) but rather the manual. Rowing through the gears, while carrying your friends and family in the car, while having fun is the best.

this is the second review I've watched from start to end without skipping ahead and realized in that moment of realization that a subscription was a must.

Thank you for your review! I love that you put in your input in terms of long term ownership.

Without any doubt, your reviews are the most thorough. The inside and outside, under the hood and even under the body, no one else lifts it up on a jack to critique the underlying structure.

Your reviews are hand down the best on YT. Informative, entertaining, tasteful. I could watch 24/7/365

Nailed the looks without completely taking a crap on the design like the Civic, I can't even look at those things when I drive by them. I'm definitely impressed. I'm not a small car guy, being 250lbs, 6'1" doesn't help change my opinion either, I would always go for an SUV - but would definitely suggest this to someone buying a small car.

I gave this video a like before I watched it because I know Dr. Goose only puts it quality stuff.

Finally a reviewer that Actually LOOKS at suspension components and talks about Engineering. I actually can see that the steering rack/tie rod ends are behind the tires. This reviewer speaks like he is a degreed engineer. This is WAY better than the reviewer who " giggles " going zero to 60 and that other reviewer who needs to see all the quirks and review...he filmed examples of the paddle shifters ...how they respond. Reviewer understands WHY port injection is helpful to clean the intake valves. I went ahead and subscribed to this channel. Keep up the good work !!!

Love hearing your perspective like always, I really love cars that are built to do a job and they excel at that intended job. This is why I really liked that Hyundai/Kia duo cars like the Sorrento Elantra really were great but Toyota is just tried and true so the fact that Toyota is on that same level of quality with that cockroach like reliability, this might be the new No BS choice for compact cars. Thank you for this review -Kevin

I just bought a 2019 XSE manual. I tested most of the competition and found the Corolla the best combination of interior and exterior design and execution, combined with sound mechanicals. In terms of reviews, yours and Alex Dykes’s were the most helpful. Thank you.

I watched this expecting it to be a very short review of a very dismiss-able car for anyone who considers themselves an enthusiast. The exact opposite has happened, i'm trying really hard to find something about it to not like or say "well what do you expect out of a corolla" Every corolla I have ever driven has wanted me to drive it right into a tree. It seems like they may have actually gotten this one right and it may even be worthy of a test drive.
