This analysis is as good as it gets. It's all broken down so logically. You guys put mainstream TV football analysis to shame. 10/10 😊

I love how you get to show the places where he is lacking compared to other prem players. He is a golden boy no doubt but most threads I have read on Mainoo tend to focus only on the strengths. Finally something to dial down the hype a bit.

Makes the game look like slow motion. He does everything with 100% confidence and it's great to watch

If you could get this to Mainoo himself. United fan here. Love your content man.

Excellent analysis.

Summary: bottom level - Kovacic. Max Potential - Paul Scholes (minus the goals)

As an arsenal fan I have to say Mainoo from the small amount of games ive seen him in has a high footballing IQ for this age and will no doubt be a baller as a 8 going forward . He has great ball carrying and passing ability and he can dictate dictate the tempo of the game knows when to slow things down and retain the ball or go forward and creates scoring chances for his teammates. He has great vision and fairly precise distribution. On a defensive contributions level he is timely with interceptions and tackles. His adaptability to different positions is also on a ridiculous level and has bags of agility in tight half spaces as well as amazing composure for this age. I cant see him failing at united he seems to be getting better and better in every game I see him in and doesn't shy away in difficult games and big games . United just need a certified 6 really like Amadou Onana which I hope arsenal can get.

He can definitely play the De Jong role alongside a ball winning midfielder. Personally, that's his best role. He's gonna be our tempo setter not the main creator.

Spot on. I love mainoo, being a united fan my self, but his explosiveness needs work. He should focus on his athleticism and he would be a staple in united. The media are also not helping things tbf.

Been waiting for this one! I think the main reason why he's not the best yet at progressive passes as others is due to the fact that MU lacks technical players to open up, receive and hold the ball, most of the time they hold possession for 5-10 max minutes then struggle to get the ball out of opposition team, can't even have 60% possession against teams like Fulham, Everton. Of course I'm not saying he's capable to compete with players like Rodri, De Jong yet, he's too young but he got potential to surpass them if he keeps improving, very talented player.

I dislike such comments by Ten Hag about trying to pace the kid to exert himself harder. He shouldn't try to make him a work horse at 18; let him grow to become one of the greats. I hope INEOS will steer Mainoo in the right direction so we can watch his amazing potential and let him develop into a true elite at his own pace (and he is already at an incredible level considering his age). Instead of trying to make him immediately be more, we should just be happy that we already have a player who can already contribute so consistently and at such a level. And as such, I disagree with comments like he should try to cement his identity on the pitch when, to me, it looks like there's still plenty more natural growth to be done. A Danish saying says, When you tighten the string, you strangle the child. Regardless, thank you yet again for a very intelligent and well-delivered analysis. I look forward to more!

Genuine question:

What is your overall process of evaluating the talents of the players you have reviewed?

I.e how many games do you typically watch to get an accurate gauge of a players skill level and ceiling?

Do you cross reference your own scouting report with others to fill in any gaps you might have missed ect.

I genuinely find your analysis incredible and I’m interested in your holistic thinking process.

Great vid as per, and congrats on 100k

Great video. Mainoo is probably the most intelligent 18 year old I've ever seen. His technique, strength, and tackling added to that makes him a great talent. My biggest problem with him currently is his completely lack of defensive awareness. Being a United fan, we've conceded a few goals from him letting players run past him too easily. I never blame him for it as he's 18 and he's just come from playing a more advanced role in the academy, so I put it down to inexperience, but it is a massive negative to his game. I think his long shots will improve with time. Pirlo never had the most power but was unbelievably good from range. His accuracy and technique was just such perfection that he could pass the ball into the corners from anywhere he was on the pitch. Granted, he still had a lot more power than Mainoo does, and Mainoo will never be THAT good from range, but with enough practice, I do think he has the technique to be solid from range without needing too much power.

I agree fully with the point about him potentially struggling to find his best position. If he was to play as a proper DM, I think he'd need to be coming in as a backup to someone more defensively capable, rather than starting already. He's definitely not a 10 either. I think he'd be best in a double pivot as the more advanced of the two, or as an 8. Hopefully he finds a better midfield partner than Casemiro, who doesn't cover for him very well imo, and he can keep improving. I'm excited to see how his future goes.

Could you this type of video for Liverpool's Stefan Bajcetic? He's missed most of this season because of growing pains, but he has shown enough of promise to warrant a place in the Liverpool squad.

This is the shit I been waiting I hope he gives him a good review man cause he has been important for united. Mount injured, Casemiro was Injured for the most part, Mactominay is not the 1, Eriksen has no legs, and IDK whats wrong with Amrabat. The kid has stepped up. Lets wait and see. Im glad you released it on a friday cause im buying 3 beers and watching this after work for my friday is CANCELLED!!

He’s 18, and played 15 first team games. It take a season at least to build first team endurance, recovery sprints and maintaining strength for a 90. Look at Garnacho, used to die after 60 mins, now he plays 2 90s a week pressing constantly

Great analysis as always. I have to question how you justify the conclusions, especially about his long-term prospects, based on being a 19-year old after his first season of first-team football. It seems like an undue level of scrutiny for someone who still has 2-3 years of physical growth to come.
