DJ and producer Phil Mison aka Cantoma should be no stranger to the world of the Chillout balearicbeat scene. As a true pioneer in his own right he championed this sound from day one.
But it all started back in 1993 he was asked to DJ at the legendary Café Del Mar. This gig came up after he bumped into José Padilla in Tag Records and they got talking about music and records.
He's first stint at this famous Ibiza bar was a massive success and the following year José booked him for the full season as resident.
This unique residency lead to the start of compiling records for various labels and Phil was the very first to compile and mix a UK chill out compilation "Original Chill Out".
A string of other compilations followed incl. a couple in the Café Del Mar and The Real Ibiza series.
So I think it's safe to say that Phil Mison is one of the originators on the Balearic chill-out scene and one who have been there from the very start.

When I reached the highest point of life in mid 2007, I drove my emerald green Bentley up into the east foothills of Silcon Valley to the Carmelite Seminary. I walked through the olive treed path to the edge overlooking this valley.
It was a peaceful, quietness that overtook my consciousness.
I walked back to my car, pulled my loafers off because of the crushed olives on the path. I started my engine to my car, the radio loaded up and this tune was in its beginning of play. I set there, cooling off with the A C running, being surrounded by this healing music, feeling like never before, calm, peaceful, renewed.
When the song ended, I sought out the artist, the name of the tune that played.
Now, I realize many a day has passed, many a dream, many life experiences however when I listen to this I regain some of my youth, my life, my dreams.
I share this moment with those whom enjoy the moments this tune takes you to.
