Lisette is just incredible here. Technically, she is spot on. Her acting in really moving, from how she shows labored breaths, struggles to keep herself upright ( as Violetta is so weak here) and her face expresses all the deep thoughts that she’s feeling. Emotionally, you can literally hear her heart ❤️ crying from her voice in every note. Tears 😭 will just be the inevitable for those who listen to this epic moment in time. So grateful this history was captured on video!

Thank goodness this was recorded... Ms Oropesa manages to achieve pathos and drama without soap opera histrionics, her acting is skilfully judged and her singing still beautiful whilst managing to sound frail. A special moment indeed when the “magic” truly happened.

I cried my eyes out watching this! Oh my Good Lord! What an artist; such a pure a beautiful voice with immaculate technique. She is possibly the greatest soprano of her generation. Maria Callas would be brought to tears listening to this!

The final pianissimi were spectacular, but for me it was at 7:31 that she absolutely killed it and brought the house down. That is that extra bit that has nothing to do with vocal technique, but rather with bringing everything on the table. Emotions, acting, pathos. At that moment everything was there, and I'm glad that such a legendary moment was recorded.

Realmente fue un espectáculo. Tuve la suerte de estar precisamente ese día, 28 de julio, en el Teatro Real y pocas veces he sentido una emoción tan a flor de piel como cuando oí esta magnífica voz cantar toda la ópera, llegando al cenit en este aria final. Un teatro medio lleno a causa de las limitaciones por el COVID se venía abajo, rendido, ante esta mujer. Me permito señalar una pequeña anécdota, cuando acaba la primera parte, ante del bis, hay un momento de silencio antes de romper a aplaudir como locos, nos había dejado anonadados. !Bravo, Lisette!
