I love this movie. Stella Stevens' character had one of my favorite lines in the movie. When asked what she was wearing under her gown she said "Just panties, what else do I need"?

Stella Stevens told about Irwin Allen asking her if she had ever read the novel "The Poseidon Adventure". It must have been as they were discussing Stella Stevens playing Linda Rogo. Ms. Steven said that she was sorry, she hadn't. Irwin Allen said, "Good!" and added that everyone hated Linda in the novel. I've always wondered if Stella Steven ever did read the novel. The character of Linda in the novel is a bitter, vicious woman who has been so cheated and abused in life that she was possibly in the process of going insane. I think that character from the book is worthy of serious discussion and partly because there are so many real life Lindas.

Shelley Winters was just 51 but played a senior citizen and put on weight for the role. Interesting fact: When Mrs. Belle Rosen says after she got stuck in the Christmas tree, "What else could you do? Mrs. Peter Pan I'm not." Years earlier she was much thinner & played Peter Pan flying around on wires in a stage version of Peter Pan. She isn't Mrs. Peter Pan, she was Peter Pan! 😮
