I am really glad that you guys are showcasing the Northern store and the prices that residents of northern communities deal with. As a resident of the NWT, I am aware of it, but when travelling to different parts of Canada and interacting with people, it becomes very clear that this issue is not something that is known, understood and fully grasped by all Canadians. I'm embarking on an Arctic Expedition in August at the age of 17, and watching your vlog has made me even more excited to see and learn about the Northern Regions. Thanks Mitch and Greg! ❤❄️

The northern store is owned by The Northwest Company, head office is in Winnipeg Manitoba.
Prices have gone up by August because at that point everything has to be flown in. It is cheaper to bring products in by sea lift but that can only be done once a year because the ice has to melt enough to allow the ships to sail through.
Peppers price is per pound. And fresh and frozen items are always flown in because they have a very short shelf life.
The man they were talking to while eating narwhal is named Jerry. He is the former mayor of Clyde River. He has been lobbying against seismic testing for many years.
