Moving on to college, the victims of the Comprachicos of the mind (the Progressive schools), face a psycho-epistemological crisis. Life doesn't make sense, and yet they get the clear sense they have to make choices, and find a way to make sense of the world in order to live in it. They head off to college, hoping to find answers, only to be told there are no answers, only more questions, only "critiques," and nothing can be "known," and those who tell you it can are suspect...

If you don't get CHILLS realizing this essay was written in 1970, not last week, I'll be surprised (make sure you've seen the first three parts, it will make much more sense).

20:52 gets to the heart of the matter. The authorities thought they could turn everything over to the comprachicos without any consequences for them, the school, or society.

15:12 is another great paragraph. "Hatred of reason and everything it implies: of intelligence, of ability, of achievement, of success, of self-confidence, of self-esteem, of every bright, happy, benevolent aspect of man." The comprachicos' fatal misunderstanding of democracy is the root cause of this hatred. They think "democracy" means equal outcomes at every strata of society, until there is no strata, at which time we achieve pure communism. Success must be denigrated rather than celebrated. Self-confidence must be criticized as arrogance.

You could literally ask, "Sound familiar?" after every paragraph in this essay. Considering it was written 50 years ago, the only thing surprising is that the comprachicos had not completely taken over by 1990. They were thwarted in their efforts for a long time, but now with both Big Tech AND Fortune 500 companies fully in compliance, they have achieved dominance. The only hope now is homeschooling. And they are working to destroy that, too.
