After having solved my problem with the same right side of my Ford expedition (I loosened the first two bolts on the front of the engine on each side of the manifold and that worked for me) I came to watch videos to find easier solutions if I needed to change the gaskets again in the future and I find the best solution, You are a mastermind, you are right it is only a few millimeters which prevents you from taking out the easiest piece as you did, Congratulations for the great work your video will be useful for whoever is with this headache, I should have seen your video before suffering to find the solution, I thought of completely removing the manifold 😅

Looking up random places my Coolant could be leaking from... having climbed all over the back end of the engine by the fire wall (where the leak looked like it was)... went back out to truck. Leaking from the gasket but never would have seen it. This video was a life savor. Thanks!

Do you realize you saved my life . I was about 5 minutes short of jumping off a bridge when I came across your video . I am not a Mecanic, I’m a carpenter. But I thought changing an alternator in my f150 can’t be that hard . The first problem I had was i broke off both bolts in the bypass that hold that funny little strap over the alternator . I borrowed a trunk load of tools from my friends and also purchased 10 gallons of anti sieze solution . I tried drilling out the bolts and broke a bit in one bolt and ruined the other . Now I have to buy a new coolant bypass tube. Local dealership with taxes, just shy of $1000.00 😭😭. So i decided to get a used one. This is now, 5 days since I started the job. First thing to do is remove the existing piece . I drained the radiator, Made a mess I had to clean up . Sprayed the 4 bolts for 2 days with liquid wrench and finally today I attacked the job. With much patience and perseverance, I got the bolts out and was so happy and pleased with myself until I tried to remove it . I spent half an hour jiggling it back and forth but to no avail . It kept hitting something. I sat down and felt sick to my stomach looking at what I would have to do to get that stupid thing out. So I turned to utube to see if there was a solution to my dilemma. I tried two or three till I came across yours. When I saw what you did, I could here music coming down from the sky. Ten minutes later I was sitting down with that bypass pipe on my lap. Thank you for saving my life 😊😊.

I showed this to a local mechanic who wanted me to get new intake gaskets, a new intake manifold (which is on national back order), and was going to have to charge a whole bunch of labor……. I showed this video and provided the crossover tube gaskets, and this fixed the issue like a charm. Only paid 250 for the fix rather than thousands

DUDE!!! We showed your video to our mechanic, he got the Dremel out and filed that area down, saved us HUNDREDS in labor costs!! He said Ford should be ashamed that they did that! Thanks man!!

You saved me $1650 and perhaps a replacement of the whole vehicle! The mechanic quoted me $1700 for the whole job, including replacing the crossover pipe. I picked up gaskets for $50 and my son and I did the job in a couple of hours! Thanks so much!

I have to tell you I had just finished watching a video showing I needed to take the intake off because I was stuck. Hit the back button hoping for a better solution and BAM! There you were! Thank you for sharing that information, I filed that corner down and it came right out.

Holy crap! Thanks for the great tip!
My 2013 5.4 started to give off that coolant smell and found it leaking from the drivers side gasket. Looked all over the interwebs, and most videos and replacement pics showed the intake together with the coolant crossover tube. Thought I had a LOT of work and hours to get it all done. But then came across your video! Even without your great tip, this video still showed I only need to replace the gaskets on the crossover tube and not even deal with the intake. So much weight lifted off my shoulders, and will tackle this job over the weekend.
Thanks again for the great tip, and keep up the great work!

Dude, what a valuable video. there should be a collection of vids on here that are labeled "Terribly Invaluable, $$ saving ingenuity, Never Delete !" and this should be in there. no way I wanted to do these gaskets if I had to remove the intake. I would have, but saved time, knuckles and curse word consumption. (there's only so many swear words, we may run out!! ) Thank You So Much. My Hat to you Sir!

Gotta tell you. I've been doing this since the early 2000's. This trick worked like a charm. And it saved the customer 100's of dollars too .

Thanks so much for your video! It worked for me just fine after 5 minutes with my Dremel. I had a little trouble getting the passenger side back under the manifold. A small chamfer on the edge of the crossover let it slip under the manifold insert.

Just saved me $1800. Yes that was the quote from Ford to do this job. I was able to knock this out in 1.1hours. Dremel with the right bit made quick work.
