Scammers pose as police trying to use elderly couple's grandson as bait

Sean Lewis shares the story of an Edgewater couple who were able to successfully thwart a phone scam attempt through the use of communication and common sense.

This is a pretty old scam at this point. My grandma got a call to send money to bail me out of jail... she proudly told me how the conversation went. She told them i'm a grown boy and can deal with the consequences of my actions. lol. RIP grams.

Same sort of scam happened with my stepmom last year. They were very convincing but fortunately she called and asked about my nephew. They didn't get any money but what is scary is that they had just enough access to personal information to setup such a scam. Our elderly come from a generation that is willing to trust and try to help when they can. To target these people is infuriating.

My grandma got one like this however when they called her grandson was in the living room watching the evening news with her.

I take they were the "USUAL SUSPECTS" or it's a "CULTURE THING" because the comments are few.... probably case workers scamming on their day off right???
