Zac is a teenage boy who decides to camp on Mako Island, unaware that three mermaids, Sirena, Nixie, and Lyla, who are guardians of the island, are watching him. That night, when the full moon rises, the boy comes into contact with the magic water of the Moon Pool. The following morning, Zac discovers that he has the ability to control and manipulate water. Later, after accidentally falling into the water, he finds that he has also become a merman with a fish-like tail. His new-found merman abilities will cause problems for the mermaids.

The three mermaids, curious about living on land and motivated to remove Zac's merman powers, venture onto the land and learn to live among humans.

YES. I’ve loved Mako Mermaids since I was in 5th grade, and that love has not died AT ALL (I’m in 10th now). This show and mermaids in general have helped me accept myself and my mental health problems over the years. I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t discovered it. I still get that magical entranced feeling whenever I listen to this intro, and it makes me feel so at home. I’m in the process of getting my own mermaid tail, and I hope that it’ll help me feel even more like them. This series may not be considered a cinematographic masterpiece, but it will always be gold to me ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I remember when this came out on Netflix. Ugh so good! I love h20 because that's like 2011 nostalgia for me. I liked the original mako better but I love Ondina and Mimi. It's nice that mako mermaids came out because it's more for my generation where h20 is for the last generation or group of kids.


WILL THEY COME OUT WITH ANOTHER ONE? I would so watch that. They probably won't but you know, I still swim like a mermaid but my dreams came true when I got a fin fun mermaid tail lol.
