Many of the nation’s Boeing 737 MAX 9 jetliners have been grounded by the FAA after a panel on an Alaska Airlines flight blew-out at 16,000ft over Oregon. NBC’s Jesse Kirsch reports for Sunday TODAY.

There was a known pressurization issue on the 737 max 9. That’s why it’s was not ETOPS certified. They allowed them continued to fly it regardless! This is a major failure of the FAA and Boeing all over again. We need to hold them accountable.

It does not matter what corporation it is anywhere in the world, the 1st and honestly only priority in business is profits for its share holders. Integrity has been gone in businesses for years now.

The aircraft was not modified. The emergency exits in that location are optional, and this configuration did not require them. It was built to the configuration Alaska ordered.

Concorde had one crash and the FIA scrapped the entire fleet but this American plane still flies. Scrap the entire fleet.

It is not only the structural failure that demonstrates the enormous shoddy with which it was designed and manufactured... it is not only the MCAS disaster... as if that were not enough THE MAX-7 that have not yet been delivered already have a problem that could be potentially lethal: the ice-air system at a certain altitude or engine power can cause the engine nacelles to catch fire..." Boeing discovered after the MAX entered service that if the system remained switched on after leaving the icy air, it could overheat and damage the composite structure, possibly leading it to break off the nacelle.The FAA stated that debris from such a breakup could penetrate the fuselage, putting passengers seated at windows behind the wings in danger, and could damage the wing or tail of the plane, “which could result in loss of control of the airplane."

My flight from EWR to LAX was cancelled due to this. They rebooked me on a flight in 2 days to Seattle and now they’ve cancelled THAT flight. Do you know what’s missing? Any kind of instruction on what to do and how the company is resolving the problem. I simply bought another (more expensive) flight (Delta), but will have to deal with things later. The website won’t even let me cancel the original flight. Instead I’m told I should call and wait for 4+ hours! Lol! This whole thing is a major inconvenience but I bet the CEO will get a bonus this year! O_o

The MAX is plagued with issues. They should've stayed grounded the first time.

It was an emergency door that they covered up. Who in their right might would think covering an emergency door is a good idea. No one has every said “this building has too many emergency doors, get rid of one”

I am never flying a 737 max again after the door flying off and the two deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019😢

Apparently this aircraft has only been operational for a couple of months that’s how new it is. Apparently it was not to be used for flights to Hawaii because of the distance involved over the ocean. Well if that is the case, it should be not operational at all what are Boeing and Alaska Airlines up to?

I remember when the other Max eights crashed shortly after that Boeing was saying they were going to change the 800s to the 900s and that’s exactly what they did. These are the same planes I’m sure of it although they have some max eight in Service.

These comments are laughable. Everyone’s suddenly such an expert in aviation saying the max should not be in service, or how Airbus is so much more advanced just because of a pressurization failure. This isn’t the first time a blow out and loss of pressure occurred on an airliner. Stop acting like the 737Max is such a death trap. Failures happen but you’re more likely to be struck by lightning than experience an inflight failure. Most of you know nothing about this.

So Boeing couldn’t get the Max 8 right so they built a 9. Now they can’t get the Max 9 right. Boeing might want to migrate from building planes. They are more focused on saving a buck than safety.
