Hey hey! Today we're looking at Animation Montages in Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5. Montages are the perfect way to play one-off animations on your characters, such as attack animations, dialogue animations, or just general emoting. There are multiple "Play Montage" nodes, some of which simply suck. There are also a few other tips and tricks I cover in the video so make sure you watch until the end :)

Also nice to know:
- you can put multiple anim assets into the same montage
- you can splice up the montage timeline into "sections" and specify which section to play, and even make sections loop

Thank you much . I was struggling to get my issue fixed . basically i was creating a zombie for my game and it was keep repeating his attack animation so i created a Boolean " IsAttacking" and hooked it the same way you did with the roll animation. I was struggling for more than 3 hours. Instant sub to you . Thanks Again.

Another suggestion: if you "make everything bigger" in Windows settings (125%-150%) it would be easier to read the labels around the editor UI for your viewers. I personally use it to work and my eyes are much happier and I less migraines. I know, it is not as cool and sometimes you need to see more stuff at once. But I can say that it is the biggest ergonomic revolution since the invention of the bed! 😄

Glad you mentioned why you'd use a montage as opposed to the state machine, that was confusing me a bit!

Oh how I wish Charlie would cover control rig at some point! There’s a serious black hole when it comes to those tools re-tutorials/training and to me control rig is super exciting wrt what you can do with it.

If you right click on the the output you can split it

You fixed the aspect ratio! A smaller PIP would be even better, you can go fullscreen when you want to emphasize a concept. Also, if I may, no need to step by step create nodes. Unless one is completely new to UE there is no need for that. You would save so much time for viewers and can spend more time actually explaining the WHYs instead of the HOWs. IMO is the best way to produce tutorials and might attract more viewer since everybody is doing the "step by step do as I do for reasons"...

Hi Prismatica. Great tutorial. Please if i may ask. how can i animate the cloth to certain poses? like lets say i want to make the cloth stretched into a gliding position. (As cloth sim and morph targets dont work together) i have tried adding bones to the cloth but skinning and rigging it and a also using a proxy mesh but the skinning is kind of difficult as i have a medium poly mesh and getting the polygons to achieve the same effect as the pose morph is difficult. i can get them to play but with the cloth sim is removing the skinning of the cloth to the bones. Please Help. thanks in advance

I have code in my AnimBP that always needs to be running (Eye look tracking). When the AnimMontage plays, it doesn't use what's in the AnimBP. How do i make the AnimMontage communicate with the AnimBP?
