I love that they went with the original story for Medusa, she didn’t deserve what happened to her and it really shows how cruel and jealous the Gods can be, Athena couldn’t stand anyone being more attractive than her so she destroyed Medusa’s life because Poseidon loved her more than

This woman would be a good pick for a live action CORALINE. She seems a good fit to play the other mother.

You can very slightly hear her voice crack when she said “me” when she stated that she was the one who got punished, amazing actress

I like that Annabeth is so blindly loyal to her mother. Like in her eyes, Athena can do no wrong, which makes her tell Medusa that what happened to her isn't true and that she's a liar that is more proof that she is blindly loyal and knows nothing. But Medusa is just looking at her like "honey you weren't there. You don't know".

Medusa was a high priestess of Athena. Athena was angered when Medusa was raped by her uncle in her temple. The goddess turned Medusa into a monster, yet even so, the Olympians wouldn't let her go. They sent countless warriors to her island to murder her. Medusa was already pregnant with Poseidon's child. Her poor child Pegasus becomes the pet of the gods.

Putting a invisible hat on her, so you can't see her, is an incredibly Smart Move. This Annabeth is already a lot more smarter than the movie version.

I love the cadence of her voice. There is such elegance to the way her words coil and weave. Very fitting for her character.

Brilliant voice on the Medusa actress! She mesmerizing yet haunting.

I love the nuance of Medusa. They implied a major, obvious power imbalance when Poseidon seduced her, but she's still a villain because she has all those statues of innocent victims in her basement. Her story is valid and she has a point to question the gods, but it doesn’t justify what she's choosing to do now.
Love this series.

1:46 - 2:02 I love the cracks in her voice hear, it shows how despite seemingly coming to terms with her curse, she’s still hurt by it and the way she was treated overall.

I never heard it but her voice cracks when she says “me” when she talks about Athena punishing her. Like it still truly hurts her that the woman she loved the most turned her back on her

I feel empathy for Medusa. Lol, I was kind of annoyed when Annabeth called her a liar. Like, Annabeth please be quiet and let me hear Medusa side of her story. Do not trigger Medusa. Just talk it out. Have a therapy session. Also, Medusa be gaslighting Percy a bit, when she was cooking something on the gas stove. Lol, she is gaslighting while cooking on the gas stove. Medusa I could help you remove your trauma and vengeance and been a free independent strong lady that uses her snake for good things like Deuce from Monster High. Maybe ask Athena to try her back to normal.

That tense fake out of snakes turning into food sizzling is genius

I read the entire story of Percy Jackson and honestly one of the few things I never liked is that they did not present the true story of Medusa, considering that she is a super clear example of the cruelty of the Gods

Just to be clear, Medusa being a victim is *NOT* the original version of the tale. In the original Greek version, she was one of many monsters that just always existed or came from Echidna, the mother of monsters. Echidna basically existed to create whatever “monster of the week” our designated ancient heroes would face.

The “Medusa is a victim” narrative comes to us from the Roman writer Ovid, who had a lot of anti-authority views that he channeled into a series called “Metamorphosis” that told the stories of many people who were transformed against their will at the whims of gods in order to make a statement about corrupt higher power not caring for innocent normal people.

His retelling of Medusa’s story is one of these. So, as I said, not the original still interesting and multilayered.

I might be wrong here but... Seems to me that Medusa was giving them hospitality/shelter - a concept that Zeus himself insisted on, and Annabeth was being extremely - though reasonably - rude

To the date, one of the best intepretations of Medusa in live action, if not the best.

Her voice is soooo enticing. She reminds me of Annie from Misery.

Damn. She just killed it in these scenes. Too bad Medusa couldn’t hang around sooner as I genuinely enjoyed her performance.

I always felt Medusa was never a monster or a villain. She was just a victim from the cruelty and vanity of the Gods. She didn’t deserve what happened to her at all
