I converted a Hyper SpinFit 700c to a drop bar gravel bike!

Показать описание
I took a $148.00 Hyper SpinFit 700c bike I bought at Wal-Mart, and turned it into a rather nice commuter bike in January of 2020. Then the pandemic hit, and I was working from home. Along came July and I retired. Suddenly, I had no need for a commuter bike. Wjat to do? Well, since I had no gravel bike in my collection, I figured I'd convert the Spinfit.
I replaced the flat bar with a drop bar. Braking was an issue since regular combo shifters can't activate linear pull brakes such as those on the Spinfit. Luckily Tektro makes drop bar leers for that purpose. I mounted the Sram X4 trigger shifter I was using far inboard on the handlebar and it worked like a charm. Finishing off the conversion are a pair of Kenda Kwick 700c x 30mm treaded tires, pretty much the biggest the vintage Mavic rims can take.
