Remove subtotals from data in Microsoft Excel

I'm not a huge fan of subtotals in Excel -- they're quite high-maintenance. Add a line or field and there's a good chance things won't add up anymore. Here's how to get rid of them so you instead put this data in a table or PivotTable -- more reliable ways to store and present data.
