Initiative is too late. china is too far ahead now. Europe had all the time for good initiatives before China's BRI. They brutally exploited Africa of her resources since the slave era. This is all a sign of panicking in fear of losing "free" resources

China has invested heavily in Africa for a very deep reason. Many believe that Africa is next CHINA in terms of its market size and economic potential. If true China would be part of this historical moment when Africa has a chance to shine again in the advacement of human civilizaiton.

The Global Gateway is first a geopolitical instrument. Its launch is an indication that China is firmly on the lead, especially in Africa.

Stupid Question: How will Global Gateway NOT push developing countries deeply into debt? Will the EU only give small affordable loans to these countries? Will the EU forgive portions of large loans if the developing countries struggle to repay debt?

This presenter was cutting the lady in africa who was making a very point about Chinese investments in africa and why it is different from what the Weste have been doing in africa. Chinese brought lots of development la in africa while the west was busy preaching the gospel of democracy to Africans the Chinese were developing africa. Now they saw that China has done lots of good for Africans and they wants to copy this is funny

I would take this seriously if I saw EU investing in vaccine distribution during a global pandemic, but I fear this will be another name, Global Gateway, for colonialism. - Access to valuable resources of the African continent -

America and Europe have spent so long exploiting Africa and purposely keeping the continent in poverty because poverty in Africa means profits for the West. But now that Africa sees that China is a much fairer and way less predatory partner, all of a sudden the West wants to step up and help develop Africa.

If it wasn't for China, the West wouldn't care less about Africa. The US and Europe just wants to maintain their influence over the continent.

It's not much different from how all of the worker's rights that existed in the USSR drove the US to give more rights to American workers as well. Or how the USSR's space program drove America to try to get to the moon first.

It's not much different from how the Nvzis were directly inspired by the US and how they had a fairly prominent presence in the US until America got involved in WWII. Then America started pretending to be a post-racial paradise full of equality because they didn't want to be compared to Germany.

The West has always had to be forced to do the right thing in order to not be embarrassed by communists or to separate themselves from fascists.

European Union and American fellows bring all these offers with strings attached while China and Russia do not interfere with internal affairs of sovereign countries.

European countries, USA, Japan, South Korea, IMF and World Bank always chooses what they want to invest in on the African continent.
They hardly ever ask the host nation where they want the investment to go. China on the other hand, is mainly the locals determine where and which places they want investment in.

First impression mean a lot and make a lot of difference:
- Europe :- Slave trade, divide and concur, colonialism.
- America:- Build military base.
- China:- Build infrastructure
🤔
I think the choice is clear.
