Den Haag - aka, The Hague - is an amazing place to base your stay in The Netherlands. It's cheaper than Amsterdam and not nearly as crowded. While I love Amsterdam, I also think the people here are more relaxed.

Today, I did a free walking tour with Els from Elswhere Tours. I highly recommend her. She was pretty sick the day of our tour and she didn't tell us until the end. No one even noticed. I walked a bit with her after the tour and I could tell then that she was putting everything she had into the day for us. Brilliant woman and you'll be glad you took her tour. Here's her site:

The Hague banned airbnb very recently due to the effect it was having on the housing market so your link doesn't go anywhere. Might wanna edit that. But thanks for the very good tour of the cities in this area! I live here and it's always fun to see people who really get it having a look for themselves.

really enjoyed this! I have also been to Amsterdam a couple of times, though we did get to see some of the Netherlands while driving by bus from Brussels last time in 2016. I usually dont like crowds that much while on vacation but the energy of Amsterdam is addictive! anyway, we will be in Den Haag in just about 3 weeks from today. we are staying in one of the cheapest hotels right in the city center which costs 50 Euros a night. I dont think I could stay in a small room like you did with a shared bathroom no matter how cheap it is!

The next time jouw viste the Netherlands you need to visite Spakenburg the hidden jeem of Netherlands. On saterday there is a weekly market whit more than a 100 stands. Take the train to Amersfoort and then the bus to Bunschoten Spakenburg line 76.
