Reimagining Conservation with the Black Environmentalist Alliance

Who comes to mind when you think about people working in the field of conservation? What biases are entrenched in our environmental policies, our practices, and our thinking and how can we all act to dismantle systemic racism? The Black Environmentalist Alliance (BEA) is working to lift up the voices of Black environmentalists by showcasing Black contributions to conservation in Ontario, by breaking down barriers for Black professionals, and ensuring that environmental decisions support all people’s ability to enjoy the earth’s natural systems. In this session, you will hear from three BEA members as they discuss their career journeys and lessons learned in conservation through the Black experience.
