My First and Forever Fujifilm Lens

In this video I talk about my 8 years of experience using the XF35mm f2 lens. This lens is phenomenal especially when you consider the small size and affordable price point.

This was the first lens I ever bought. Before this all my gear was handed down to me by my wife as she bought new equipment.

All Photos were taken by me over a period of about 8 years using a variety of Fuji cameras. I sorted through over 1,800 keeper images to pick the ones presented in this video. Let me know what your favorite image is!

The only lens i have since owning a fuji. (I have an xt-20) I have small hands and this combo is heaven for me. Images are so good.

I shot thousands of portraits with that lens and an xt2. It was a great investment. Funny thing, I owned the 56 1.2 since the day I bought it with the xt2 and never used it because I mostly had tight spaces for the portraits. I just recently was able to use the 56 about 3 weeks ago and not looking back to the 35 f2 lol. Both great lenses, but the 56 just produces some kind of witchcraft that I can’t seem to figure out how it does it but man oh man my clients loved it! But the 35 was an amazing investment and won’t hesitate to go back to it if need be.

I'm no longer using the XF system but my only real regret when switching was not keeping my X-E1 and the 35 f2. (The 1.4 is crazy sharp but I just really enjoyed the f2.) It really fits the compact and range finder style line of cameras.

Nice video! I just got me a used xt2 and have no fuji lenses jet. Playing around with vintage canon fd lenses. Have much fun with that. This 35mm looks like a good first fuji for me. Thanks. 👍

I had it in my collection along with the 35mm f1.4, the 23mm f2, the 18mm f2, and the 60mm f2..I really liked it but having two 35mm didn't make much sense to me..even having the other lenses don't make much sense.. because I use the 35mm f1.4 98% of the time

Recovering Leica M8 user here . . . But now that I have a few years of Fujifilm X-bodies under my belt, I’m never going back to Wetzlar. Just bought this lens but have NOT received it yet! Maybe next week, eh?

Thank you, Seth! I just bought a well-used X-Pro2 and one of these lenses to go on it (mint cond, in box). What do ya think..? A good combo? You got a great channel! 👍

I actually like XC version more as it is much lighter, I love to squeeze the grams as low as possible on fuji system

Never tried this lens. My favourite is the 35mm f1.4 - actually working on youtube video about it, . Also a wonderful lens.
i will buy this 35 or the 23mm f2 just to own one more modern and lighter WR lens.

6:27: where was that image taken if you don't mind?

I'm so torn between the 1.4 and the 2 - the 2 is the sensible choice (small, light, fastish, weather sealed, less expensive) - but the 1.4 'magic' is something I'm intrigued by. Hard to say - but having owned both did the 1.4 create noticeably more unique images, or is the reality that most humans couldn't tell the difference?
