The oil and gas industry may be divided into offshore and onshore segments;
Offshore refers to the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas. Onshore operations include crude oil refining and processing of natural gas.

ROCK BITS for offshore operations are machined using the following processes:

Carbide bit holes are made with the SUMOCHAM drilling system using standard 1.5xD drill bodies

Slot milling with MULTI-MASTER, a family of tools with unique interchangeable heads, for a variety of milling applications such as profiling, shouldering, slitting and slotting.

External rough turning using DOVE-IQ-Turn heavy duty tools, with large single sided inserts to withstand interrupted cut and high machining loads.

Deep hole drilling is done using ISCAR-DEEP-DRILL for double or single tube systems, or DR-DH deep drills. DR-DH can drill up to 7XD ratio and even deeper, and can be used on standard horizontal milling centers, lathes, and multi-task machines.
