Tim Mcgraw Dont Take The Girl

Johnny's daddy was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old
A little girl came through the front gate holdin' a fishing pole
His dad looked down and smiled, said we can't leave her behind
Son I know you don't want her to go but someday you'll change your mind
And Johnny said "Take Jimmy Johnson, take Tommy Thompson, take my best friend Bo
Take anybody that you want as long as she don't go
Take any boy in the world
Daddy please don't take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Ten years down the road
He held her tight and kissed her lips
In front of the picture show
Stranger came and pulled a gun
Grabbed her by the arm said "If you do what I tell you to, there won't be any harm"
And Johnny said "Take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards
Here's the watch that my grandpa gave me
Here's the key to my car
Mister give it a whirl
But please don't take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Five years down the road
There's going to be a little one and she says it's time to go
Doctor says the baby's fine but you'll have to leave
'Cause his momma's fading fast and Johnny hit his knees and there he prayed
Take the very breath you gave me
Take the heart from my chest
I'll gladly take her place if you'll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
God, please don't take the girl

Johnny's daddy
Was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old

This is such a Moving song. My Wife and I were blessed with a Beautiful Little Boy. We had some complications through the delivery and it was one of those moments in my life where I was talking to God just like that little boy in this song. I remember sitting on the bed holding my Wife’s Hand and praying God whatever it takes for me to keep her I’ll do it. We had been at the Hospital for 15 hours before our Little Boy was born. My Wife’s blood pressure kept plunging to 60/30 and she was going unresponsive. It absolutely sacred me so bad that I actually hit the floor and prayed a similar prayer as this song. It’s a Beautiful song.
God moved for us that day and My Wife and Son are very healthy today and we are still giving God the Glory. I’m a full grown Man and this songs gets me every time I hear it.

For city Hispanic guy, and growing up with a complete different style of music. I can’t get away from country music! There’s so much intensity, and genuine emotion within the lyrics of these type of music that is impossible not to get inside the music. This song is amazing. Although I’m a fan of Randy Travis I genuinely enjoy all those old school country singers.

Got to be the saddest song ever written, I just can't listen to it without shedding tears, everytime I think of the girl, reminds me of my daughters, it would break my heart, if anyone of them, left this world before me.
