This version of "Polly" was recorded in November 1991 in London at BBC Maida Vale studio, it was around the time "Nevermind" went platinum in the US. The band wanted to speed the song up to punk rock, and that's just what they did. Other songs recorded that day were "Aneurysm", "Been A Son" and "Something In The Way". All of them except the latter ended up on "Incesticide".

The bassline in "(New Wave) Polly" is similar to the one in the "normal" version except the interlude before the last verse. There, Krist does some minor variations of the main riff.
