I live near a mid-sized Midwestern American university. This past summer, I would occasionally grab one of my saxophones (I have a straight soprano sax and a curved soprano sax.) and I would hike over to the place where they have a pond with a gazebo near it near the university library and just practice in the gazebo. I tried to time it when few people woud be around. One day a few people sat down in the grass near the pond shortly after I got started. I was just running through scales and doing some drills. I finised by playing three songs from memory. When I was all done, a couple of them came over and said, "Thank you." I said, "'Thank you' for what ...stopping?" (Lol!) They said, "No. Thank you for sharing your journey with us." I thought that was kind of cool.
