Textbook hand, river play is just perfect, perfect value bet and discipline fold, I'm 100% sure Hero is a big time winner in these games

Following your advice when it comes to raises on the turn & river has helped minimize what could have been some disasterous downswings. I wouldnt be surprised if its top 1 or 2 of the most expensive leaks in "decent players" at the micros. Some of your best advice right there 👌

You say pocket 5 is the most likely hand but for my experience, the nits will just call instead of raise when there´s a flush in the board so I put him on a flush so maybe KJ or KQ, I might obviously be wrong

Thank you very much, Nathan for analyzing the hand! I burnt down all my time bank there figuring out what the hell he had, lol. It must be either pocket Jacks or some nasty backdoor flushes completed on the river that were gutshots on the flop. Waiting for your new videos! :)

you know what I think would be awesome, if you did a live cash game stream on here sometime. show us how you play so we know how to play too, show how you build reads and use your hud stats in the moment to choose the best line, and let us know your thought processes in the decisions you make. I think it could really beneficial... well, so long as you made sure none of the people on your table was watching the stream

i would like to discuss how the hand was played, like is it fair to assume that since we have an Aj and facing a super nit, then after the flop we have blockers to AX and JX limiting villain range to some small pairs or suited connectors ?. i don't think he will be calling with gapers connctors, and probably QKs in this scenario or pocket 5 after the turn bet . at the river i think hero should just call as he will only get called by better hands from this specific player type, but getting reraised from villain on the flushy board suggest to me that he had the nuts with KQs. is my reasoning good ?, thanks.

Haven’t watched the result yet but fold fold fold fold. Saw the funniest HUD stat ever the other day. 74/3/1 AF .4.

Hi man! Thanks for the great videos. Could you review some AK hands that misses the flop? I always raise or 3-bet and C-bet but people rarely fold at the micros.. It's a pain in the ass really

Making folds like these is crucial for your win rate at the micros. If the situation was flipped, most players would go broke with two pair here against hero's KQs, QTs, 55, or JJ.
I think KQ and QT make the most sense here. Both hands can call the flop with backdoor flush draws and gutshots, and both hands certainly can call the turn with good implied odds if the NIT assumes hero has an A and will call a river raise if the flush/straight comes in. I think 55 and JJ raise the turn for protection because NITs are always scared of getting out-drawn. Even if villain doesn't raise the turn with a set, I think it's more likely he just calls the river, but those hands are definitely possible.
If hero calls, he needs to be good here about 30% of the time to just break even. It's very unlikely villain is bluffing in this exact spot almost a 3rd of the time. He is definitely value betting here at least 70% of the time. I'd expect to be good here, at the absolute most in this situation against this player type, maybe 10% of the time. The thing is, Ax with the Q of clubs is actually a sick sick bluffing hand here on the river, but playing a 9/3/1 at the micros leads me to believe that villain isn't capable of even considering such a play, much less capable of understanding why it would be a good play against hero's range.

Always love your videos Nathan. To be clear, I am writing these comments after seeing the river raise but not the end of the video: a couple of points in the hand don't make sense. Why isn't the river a check back? Also, on the turn, I don't see AQ being in the range of a VPIP 9/3. That makes his *entire* range all the pairs and AKs and AKo and that's it (literally). That call on the *flop* would make alarm bells go off and the turn call would mean that I'm dead. A 9/3 isn't even playing his suited aces! At the river, I would be thinking villain has a set and I'm just checking back. I'd love to get your thoughts on why the river isn't a check.

Being a nit, I would discount raising with 55, he would be scared of the flush

Pocket 9s or high clubs maybe? Would have liked to have seen the showdown just to see if I read them correctly.

This is a check 100% in my mind. He will never pay out with AK AQ or KQ, so the only outcome we can expect is to re-rise with the nuts and this bet on the river is pointless. I think he have pocket 5s

my guess is he flopped a set with either 55 or jj, and before you discount jj remember, he is a super nit, and if he might just call with ak or aq, chances are he might do the same with jj fearing a bigger pair

to be fair i would have went for the check instead of the 0.48 raise just because i want to see what the nit holds so i can be sure of never ever competing against him if he ever raises

decision but i agree with the fold..propably he has the nuts something like KQ-suited or KT-suited having straight draw at flop and flush draw at turn...will a check/call(depends at bet size) at river give us more info ?

Well played hand what else is there to say. I personally dont think, I could make that fold on the river especially at 2NL. And then I would tilt my balls off, when I saw, that he backdoored into a flush or straight, or had me coolered the whole time with 55. Given the player type I actually think, there even is a case to be made for checking behind on the river. When he call that large turn bet, and all the main draws get there on the river, what does he even have, that we still beat, AND that will call another bet?

Sure maybe AQ or even AK, but its getting kind of thin, and by betting we open the door for him to do this and put us in a really gross spot. Finnegan made a very disciplined laydown here, and if you can do that, maybe its ok to go for 3 streets of value. But if you cant, then I really think, you are better off checking behind and taking a note on, what he had. And then go for value against someone else than exactly the most nitty person at the table.
