It's Mind-blowing! What SpaceX Polaris Just Did Shocked The Entire Industry...
What we've been waiting for since the beginning of the year has finally happened. SpaceX's first private spacewalk was right in front of us. This will be a historic milestone as it has never been seen before.
What weird things will happen?
How did Elon Musk react?
Let’s find out on today’s episode of Alpha Tech:
Polaris Dawn is the first mission in a planned series of three under Jared Isaacman’s Polaris Program. This mission marks the third flight of SpaceX’s Crew Dragon Resilience, which previously undertook the Crew-1 and Inspiration4 missions—the latter being the first fully private commercial space mission, also funded and led by this billionaire.
It's Mind-blowing! What SpaceX Polaris Just Did Shocked The Entire Industry...
After being delayed for nearly two weeks due to bad weather, the Polaris Dawn mission was launched early on September 10. As expected, SpaceX’s crew operations were efficient, and the crew, including Isaacman, Scott "Kidd" Poteet, Anna Menon, and Sarah Gillis, were placed inside the Dragon spacecraft before waiting through weather-related delays.
Following the launch, Falcon 9 and Dragon performed flawlessly, and the crew can now begin their work in orbit.
“Achievement unlocked,” SpaceX posted on X afterward.
It's Mind-blowing! What SpaceX Polaris Just Did Shocked The Entire Industry...
On the first day, the Polaris Dawn crew, led by billionaire Jared Isaacman, had their first meal in space, slept, and started their respiratory treatment process before the spacewalk. The first day was relatively calm, but their work will become significantly more challenging in the coming days.
Using Dragon’s forward thrusters, SpaceX elevated the spacecraft to a record altitude for any crewed spaceflight not involving the Moon, 1,400.7 km. The last time humans were at such a height around Earth was Apollo 17. Excluding the Apollo program, Gemini 11 set the previous altitude record at 1,368 km, using the Agena Target Vehicle’s propulsion system to reach that height.

Knock it off with the clickbait titles! Your videos are well made and informative, so no need to use BS titles.

Nothing Weird happened. I like the video, but the clickbait title would have better as, "Polaris Dawn flying flawlessly, details here" would have been enough for 99% of the people who wanted info. Kinda shameful, dontcha think?

From the comments below, it seems that folks do not fully understand the intent of the Polaris Dawn mission. Far from 'touristy', this mission is like all other SpaceX endeavors to incrementally test the new suits. As Issacman stated, they were developed in less than a year at a faction of the cost NASA has spent in developing new suits. No, they don't have full EVA support systems as yet; that's coming. This was to test the basic design that is a completely different approach than rebuild the old suits with some newer materials. These suits represent a whole new approach with new technologies. The suits will now be upgraded based on the information that the Polaris Dawn mission has collected. Separate individual life support modules will be developed in time for lunar and Mars missions. As it looks, SpaceX is on track to put humans on the moon before Artemis given all the crap that Boeing is pulling to try and milk as much money out of their contracts as they can.

Great video but I'm puzzled by its title.

I feel like it is. one small step for earth kind and one giant leap for Mars kind. LET'S GO TO MARS!

Everyone was expecting a long Space Walk ... but all they did, was get
halfway out the Door ... And the woman was stuck with a night view !
Plus those SpaceX were stiff as cement ... It didn't achieve all the
Hype ... But, it was still Remarkable ! Cheers ! :D

"Gemini 11 set the previous altitude record" ... while showing a photo of the Gemini 8 recovery ...

Time to undertake the transformative step of proactively adapting humans to function and even thrive away from an earthly existence. Mental and physical conditioning are one thing but selecting and eventually breeding for these non-normal conditions may become critical for eventual mission successes. Start early and press on relentlessly. I was a human test subject during the Apollo program and know this is a vast topic with many subtle area's of interest. It may take a new breed of humans to populate Mars.

What I would give to hear the true tech talk about what is really going on up there, they are out there! Where the least art truly the great and the great are the least...

Did you ever get the idea someone was watching you, only to find that someone was watching you? Who's doing the testing ?

Well! That was something positive to see happening...
Can understand being timid groundhog with no EVA air system other than a garden hose... 🤣

Glad to see Billionaires doing something so F'n cool with their money...

And was obvious the suits didnt over inflate and restrict movement, so thats a really serious small step forward.
One thing I always worry about is guys in the future having to work in Space Suits, and remember the Mercury and Apollo program suits, and even the pilot's pressure suits from the 50's.
Congrats to SpaceX Suit team, obviously did an exceptional job.
Even stylish!

And I was worried about the thermal characteristics, so happy to hear that mentioned.

And the record altitude is a fun thing... especially after 50 years!
We're movin' forward guys, the Greatest adventure ever.

Was so sad that Space programs stagnated. Now, we are seriously gaining ground again is something to be way proud about.

And hopefully soon, we can deparasite things enough that the best is yet to come, and start extrapolating exponentially into space.

Having been an avid Sci-Fi reader as a kid in the 60's, I can tell ya, that the future is now finally!

Also, this is gonna wake up the people who waste more money for way fewer results, Socialism was a dud in Space programs too...

Obviously an element of private venture added to it is an improvement in results and cost savings.

Now imagine what we could do with the money if we replaced all the bureaucracy with a black box stuffed with micro processors....

I think AI replacement bureaucracy could be a gift to humanity needed for thousands of years.

I have a question for NASA; You want to get the first woman on the Moon right? So how long will it take to get the rest of them there?

Stop Clickbait titles. Your videos are good without it. Be truthful. Otherwise people won’t thumbs up.

Polaris is literally the ONLY star that doesn't have a dawn. It never goes below the northern hemisphere horizon, and never goes above the southern hemisphere horizon. If there was a southern pole star, there would be 2 stars that never have a dawn... but there isn't one. Elon really is the Nigel Tufnel of tech bros, isn't he?

While these suits are good for close wrk around a fixed point, they aren't in the same ball park as the suits NASA is working on. Nasa suits are untethered and, as such, have all life support and ancillary equipment combined.

Never left the spacecraft, so technically not a spacewalk. Gemini left the spacecraft fully to float around.

I wonder if the astronauts could take sea sickness medication 💊 to get rid of sea sickness.
