My only hope is that younger apprentices are ready to take over the helm in keeping these magnificent pieces of Machinery well maintained and running.

May want to check those figures for the RR Griffon. Contra-props indicate a Griffon 83. 2340 HP at sea level. 2340HP/12cyl=195HP/Cylinder. 2340HP/35L = 67 HP/Litre

When I was younger an old-timer told me stories about delivering fuel to remote rural locations in Michigan that used old monster engines like these to run generators. His stories sounded real 😳

The most brute diesel.. the Detroit, the most unique.. Pratt Whitney. Most awesome..all of them. They mark an amazing time in the early mid century.

I remember going to the Brooks Oregon Steam Up and there were tractors that you had to climb staircases to get inside. They used them to pick up locomotives that had derailed

In São Francisco river (Brazil) we have an original steam boat built in 1909 still working! Lots of smoke and lots of wood!

11:16 "V12 layout with 36 pistons and cylinders"
11:28 "Each cylinder makes 35 horsepower for a staggering 1260 horsepower"

How does that even make it in the video? You had to write that down and put it in the video editor and render it out, you had plenty of chances to see that egregious error and rectify it.

The least powerful production Griffon IIB made 1730 HP. The most powerful Griffon 130 made 2420 HP, or just over 201 HP per cylinder.

1260 HP is way back in early Merlin engine power figures. And Merlins eventually were tuned to make just over 2000 HP.

9:40 The wasp series of engines were one of the most successful radial designs of all time.
~ and they bear a striking resemblance to Harley Davidson motorcycles of the time

My old 1952 D2 had a 'Donkey' that you started and then you would get the main engine spinning over until oil pressure and light her up. It would idle for months..

I’m sure The brilliant man Fred Dibnah would love to have seen this, although not many steam machines he had a great love for old machinery in general
