Both sisters were offered $350, 000 each to move out of the house that they do not own. One sister accepted, the other is refusing to leave. Funny how that relocation assistance was left out of the story entirely

the deeper story is what prevented them from owning the property after six decades? why were they unable to buy?

They paid rent for sixty years? They could have bought this house five times over.

Never become attached to a property you do not own or pay mortgage on! As much as it feels like your home and your community, it’s not if you’re just a renter.

I'm sorry but these large groups of sister who has been living in this place for decades never considered pooling their money together and just buy the property ealry on when it was cheap. Now someone else bought the property and even offered the hundreds of thousands of dollars to move out and some of the sisters even accepted the offer while someone didn't well. That's just your family's fault for not even trying to find a place for yourself.

I swear these people need to move out. They are full of themselves.

Why do they think they are entitled to stay in a rented house when they don't own it???!!!

If ya don’t live in LA or in California you don’t get how expensive it has become. This is all about socioeconomic gentrification in LA. High rent and real estate equal high property taxes, this is why the system wants to get rid of prop 13.

You could live in a house for a million years but if you just rent, you dont own it.

Me and my family were bullied out of our apartment in Highland Park. The owner had paid a couple of guys to Harass us and make our lives harder... we tried calling LAPD, but of course, they didn't care. Long story short, we moved out and are happier in Fresno.

People need to understand what renting means

The age of the house is impressive. The US doesn't have as much old buildings that we can call landmarks. If only this house had historical value.

I wish them the best but the entitlement is crazy.

The house was undesirable in the 80s and 90s when the neighborhood was bad. They could’ve purchased it for cheap. They paid 2 30 year mortgages on this house.

Bottom line is that they don't own the property,

their family rented this house for so many decades.... why didn't anyone try to make an effort to just purchase the house before when it was a lower price?? The family could have pooled the money together and bought it back in the 60s or 70s. I'm sorry but if they are only renting it does not belong to them, and they missed all their chances to buy it in the past.

Translation: Cringe adults pretend to not understand what "rent" means.

It's time to say goodbye and move in with family. No landlord is going to take an unemployed person with no disability income or retirement income, nor will the landlord take promises that the disability income is guaranteed to be approved.

They are lucky. They have family to fall back on.

I wish them the best. But lets not forget that if you rent a house you can be evicted whenever the OWNER wants you out. That may be where you live but its not your house. The family had 60 yrs to buy that house or another one in the area. And let's not forget the fact that they were offered $350k each to move. They could have each purchased their own home in Arizona or Vegas or put their money together and purchase a home in the inland empire cash.
