IGG are on to us.., . they now display a message stating that this feature is only available to users in Japan!!! Rude! I have a screenshot of the message too, just cant figure out how to add it to my comment lol

I think its an advertising strategy. Majority of the players of Lords Mobile are English speaking players. IGG doesn't need to spread their English speaking community anymore. However, in Japanese, the language you chose, the game is probably still unpopular, so they give those free gems every time they "like and share" and stuff like that.

Different languages have different news events, you are able to participate in all of them, you just have to understand what they're saying. And this time is Japanese, not Chinese.
