End Gaze Nystagmus

preview_player
Показать описание
There is no spontaneous nystagmus in primary gaze (looking straight ahead). Small beats of nystagmus are seen when he is directed to extreme lateral gaze. These disappear when he is asked to move his gaze in slightly. This is end gaze nystagmus, a normal variant and not pathological.

My two year olds eyes do this as well. I feel as if they start immediately upon side gaze. They do stop when returning eyes to primary gaze or looking a little bit back toward it. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Awesome videos!
Could bilateral vestibular neuritis happen, and then mimic this bidirectional nystagmus, making the professional erroneously think about a central cause?

great video. What is the best way to differentiate this from the nystagmus seen in vestibular neuritis?
how do you ask the patient to move his gaze in slightly?
